The team then lost against the Italian club Inter Milan in the second leg of the Europa league encounter. Despite the heavy 4-1 defeat, the club managed to progress into the quarter-finals of the competition on away goals. The match went into extra time, and the players who have been playing continuously for the last couple of months showed signs of tiredness. The team looked devoid of ideas in the 1-0 defeat against Fulham during the weekend, which not only allowed Chelsea to overtake them in the table, but it also helped Arsenal to close the gap as well. Tottenham could have been within two points of City if they had won the match.

“You can’t hide from what has happened in the past at Spurs. But you do have an opportunity to fight it. Whatever is written about the past is fine, we just have to make sure we fight against it. It has been a difficult month for us but if we can find our form, our confidence and our wins, then we will be able to invert that cycle that happens normally with Spurs. I’m confident.
